Welcome to Axel

Some of you may already know who Axel is; some of you may not care. To learn about Axel, one must first go into a bit of a biology and psychology lesson.

As you may know, the brain is divided into two sections, the left and the right hemispheres. Now these two hemispheres are connected by a “highway” of “wires” called the corpus callosum. The purpose of this super highway is to allow the two halves of the brain to communicate with each other and act as a whole fully functional unit. However, I do not believe this is the case.

Each hemisphere is it’s own entity and is struggling for superiority over it’s twin. For example, try to draw a square with your left hand and a circle with your right hand. You will notice it is near impossible because each hemisphere is vieing for power. However, a person who has had the corpus callosum severed (generally surgically done to stop seizures caused by epilepsy) is somewhat more superior at this task. That is because the corpus callosum is each hemispheres double sided cheat window. Sure you can see what’s going on the other side, but so can your adversary.

And that is who Axel is. Axel is the part of me that fights with me for power, mainly the power to life. I gave him the name Axel for several reasons. Axel is an uncommon name, in my entire life I have only heard of two people named Axel. They include Axel Folly from Beverly Hills Cop and Axel Stone from the old Sega game of Streets of Rage, modeled after the Japanese game named Bare Knuckle. Some of you may be thinking of the lead singer of Guns N’ Roses, but he spelled his name “Axl”. The other large reason why I have called this part of my life Axel is because, well frankly, it is a mirror of myself only distorted. And if you distort Alex, you get Axel. The beginning is constant because we all begin the same, but the rest is backwards.

Don’t be fooled, everyone has this inside of their minds. I’ve just personified mine. You know that voice that talks to you, when you’re scared, angry, happy, sad, or drunk? That is Axel. He is the little voice in your head; the one that no matter how hard you try, cannot be silenced. Do not confuse him with your conscious. Axel does not concern himself with society and its norms. He is not your Super Ego or Ego. He is the raw ID and make no mistake about it:

He will not be stopped.

So this page is devoted to him and his shenanigans.

  1. Actually, it is my name. Derived from the Hebrew name “Absalon” meaning peacemaker, law giver. Primarily in use in Scandinavia/Germany. Another variant spelling is “Aksel”.
